News from the DepartmentOPD RECEIVES GRANTS AND GIFTS
The Oxford Police Department has recently received a total of $64,164 from an anonymous donor, the Department of Justice, and a memorial from an Oxford resident. The money will be used to purchase equipment that will enhance the effficiency of the department. The DOJ grant will be used to replace bullet proof vests for officer safety.
Officer Ryan Doherty was sworn in as our full time police officer on June 13, 2011. Holding the bible is Ryan's wife.

Officer Mark Todd was sworn in as our newest part-time officer on March 21, 2011. He is also employed as a part-time officer in West Nottingham and West Sadsbury Townships.
Patrol Rifles and Police Car
The Oxford Borough Council recently approved the purchase of two Colt Patrol Rifles and a new police car. The items were purchased from funds given the OPD from an anonymous donor.
Officer Coverly Graduates
The Oxford Police Department is pleased to announce that Patrol Officer Chris Coverly has successfully completed the Certified Electronic Evidence Collection Specialist (CEECS) training program. This program was jointly sponsored by the Chester County Chiefs of Police Association, Chester County District Attorney's Office and the FBI. Officer Coverly also has completed a course of study and fulfilled all requirements as a Crime Scene Investigator (CSI). Upon completion of certification testing, he will be a certified CSI.
OPD RECEIVES GRANT
The Oxford Police Department received a Edmund Byrne Memorial Justice Grant in the amount of $15,468.00. The proceeds from the grant will be used for Police Emergency Response Training, Crime Prevention Training Materials and a Drug Task Force.
OFFICERS RECEIVE RECOGNITION
On May 21, 2009 five officers received Clinical Save Commendations at the 5th Annual Chester County EMS Awards Ceremony. Congratulations to Officers Coverly, Brown, Whisler, Simril and Richards for your life-saving efforts.
NEW POLICE STATION UPDATE
The Oxford Police Department has moved to their new location, 57 N. 4th Street. An open house is planned for this spring. Please feel free to stop by and visit our new station.

Officer Chris Wills was sworn in as our new part time officer on March 16, 2009. He is a FT Officer in Kennett Boro.
NEW POLICE CAR DELIVERED FEBRUARY 2009
Thanks to a generous gift from an anonymous donor the Oxford Police Department had received delivery of a new police which replace a car taken out of service.
OFFICER GALLAGHER RECOGNIZED
On the night of June 17, 2007 while on routine patrol Officer Gallagher observed two hooded males entering the Oxford Citgo Station. He turned his patrol car around and entered the station and without regard to his own safety he disarmed one of the suspects. As a result of his action, the suspects were convicted and are now in jail for 8-10 years. For his dedication to duty and his bravery, Officer Gallagher received a Meritorious Service Award on July 21, 2008.

COLLECTIBLE COP CARD CONTEST
We are pleased to announce that the Second Edition of our COP TRADING CARD CONTEST started on March 25, 2008 and ended on April 25th. Children were encouraged to collect Trading Cards and those collecting the most within a specified time will receive prizes. The success of the program was made possible with the cooperation of borough businesses, organizations and police officers. The goal of the program is to promote a positive image of police officers with our youth. This year 40 children received prizes on May 22nd. This program was made possible through the assistance of Representative Art Hershey. Even though the Contest has ended, Cop Cards are still avaialble.
NEW POLICE CAR
Thanks to Senator Peliggi the Police Department has received a $25,000 grant form the DCED to purchase a new police car.
SLAUCH GRADUATES
On December 14, 2008, Oxford Police Chief John Slauch graduated from the 231st session of the FBI's National Academy for law enforcement officers. He was recognized as one of six section leaders selected by his classmates.
McFadden Recognized
Detective Sergeant Thomas McFadden is recognized by Mayor Henry for his 25 years of service with the Oxford Police Department. October 15, 2007 was designated as Thoma McFadden Day in the Borough.

OFFICER BROWN PROMOTED
We are pleased to announce that Patrolman First Class Scott Brown has been promoted to the Rank of Corporal. Scott will officially begin his new duties as of October 15, 2008.
FBI ACADEMY
We are pleased to announce that Chief Slauch has been invited to attend the FBI Academy. Chief Slauch will be in training from September 29 to December 14, 2007. This is a once in a life time opportunity for the Chief and the Borough.

The Oxford Borough Council has purchased this property on 4th Street. It is the new home of the Oxford Police Department as of December 30, 2009.
CURFEW
The Oxford Borough Council has amended the Curfew Ordinance. Citizens under the age of 18 must be off the streets by 10 AM each night. Click the clock picture for the full text of the ordinance.
